The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Campbell tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Thompson manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Thompson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Campbell looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Thompson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Thompson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Campbell parries the strikes from Thompson easily there. Thompson is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Campbell to escape.

Thompson is trying to get an arm triangle but Campbell is defending well.
