PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marlin McCann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Okko Ukkonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McCann comes to the cage accompanied by Highway to Hell (AC/DC). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Ukkonen.
McCann tries for a takedown but Ukkonen sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Ukkonen shoots in but McCann avoids the takedown attempt easily.
McCann throws an off balance right hand
and Ukkonen counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Ukkonen throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent McCann stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
McCann wants to clinch up but Ukkonen keeps it at a distance.
McCann throws an overhand right that lands on Ukkonen's shoulder, as Ukkonen tries to avoid the shot.
McCann tries to close the distance and clinch but Ukkonen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
McCann displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ukkonen.
Marlin McCann has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Okko Ukkonen.

Ukkonen works to advance to full mount. McCann defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

McCann is bucking up trying to escape but Ukkonen cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

McCann knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ukkonen on the ground.
McCann wants to get back to his feet.

McCann might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Ukkonen is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. McCann can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McCann is in a horrible position here. Ukkonen smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
McCann takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Ukkonen's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
