PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kurty Mousey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Labayen Mon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kurty Mousey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Labayen Mon!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mon tries a head kick but it misses.
Mousey shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mon but Mon pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Mon circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mon tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Mousey manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mousey will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Mon pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Mon closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mousey circles away.
Mon shoots in and drives through. Mousey sprawls well.
Mon shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Mousey eats them both and turns towards Mon to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Mon misses with a combination

and Mousey counters with a shoot takedown. Mon fights it but they end up in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mousey looking to pass the guard.
Mon is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mousey trying to control from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mon works his way into side control.
Mousey tries to improve position but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mousey keeps working.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mousey can't do much from the bottom here.
A lull in the action here as Mon stalls from top position.
Mousey manages to get back to half guard.
Mon wants to take a breather but Mousey is having none of it.
Mon wants to free his trapped foot but Mousey is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mousey is trying to get back to full guard.
Mon trying to control from half guard but Mousey is working away.
Mousey could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Mon is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Labayen Mon.
Mon tries to clinch there but Mousey circles away.

Mon is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Mousey's half guard.
Mousey might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Mousey flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Mon tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mousey knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Mousey tries to kick Mon off but Mon keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Mon is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Mousey is refusing to be controlled, as Mon sits in half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mon drops an elbow to the side of Mousey's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Labayen Mon dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Mon clinches.

Mon ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Mon no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Mousey slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Mousey misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Mousey is looking to take a break and control but Mon is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mon is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
You can see the frustration on Mon's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Mousey wants to control but Mon is keeping him busy.
Mon regains half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Mon works his way to full guard. Good work.
Mon wants to sweep here but Mousey controlling him for the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Mon is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mousey is aware though and is defending well.
Mousey engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Mousey stopping the sweep attempt from Mon.
Mousey throws and elbow that misses. Mon uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mousey's guard. Nice move by Mon!

Mon stays in close to Mousey's body and controls the position.
Mousey not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Mousey looking for subs off his back but Mon has passed one foot through into half guard.
Mousey is trying to maintain the position but Mon is very close to passing his half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Mon wants to work for an arm triangle but Mousey is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Mon with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Mousey is in trouble now - Mon has advanced to mount!
Mousey is just holding on here. Mon manages to take his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Labayen Mon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Mousey misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Mousey shoots in but Mon avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mon wants to clinch up but Mousey keeps it at a distance.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mon looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Mon misses with a wild combination.
Some wild striking there from Mon.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mousey is defended easily by Mon.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kurty Mousey. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mousey tries to clinch but Mon moves out of range.
Mon keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Mon has taken the fight to the clinch.

Mon successfully pulls guard.
Mon strikes from his own guard.
Mon is pulling down on Mousey's head to control his posture.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Mousey has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Mon to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Mousey is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Mon pulls down on the head and he's put Mousey to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:21 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Labayen Mon!
