Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cesar Portella (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Naser Al Shami (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cesar Portella!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Naser Al Shami!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Portella walks into a stiff left hand from Al Shami.
Portella on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Portella could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Portella's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Al Shami connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Portella scrambles back to his feet.
Al Shami lands with a hook. Portella tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

Al Shami fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Portella tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Al Shami manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Portella misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Al Shami is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Portella had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Al Shami's corner calls for a 1-2. Al Shami obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Al Shami is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Al Shami dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Portella. That did some damage!

Portella tries to clinch up but Al Shami circles away and keeps his distance.
Naser Al Shami seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Al Shami connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Al Shami scores with the left hand. Portella knows he should have avoided that one.
Al Shami scores with a jab. Portella acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Portella shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Portella walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Al Shami circles away from the clinch attempt.
Al Shami lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Al Shami feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Portella's calf.
Nice straight punches there by Al Shami. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Al Shami.
Al Shami has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Portella gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Portella wants to clinch but Al Shami slips to the side
and Al Shami connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Portella takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

This has been an exciting period of action!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Al Shami stands up.
Portella takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Al Shami closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Portella quickly recovers to half guard.

Al Shami stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Portella to get to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Al Shami lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Al Shami.
Portella takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Portella takes one on the button.

Al Shami closes the distance and clinches.
Portella fails to pull guard.

Al Shami's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Portella takes one to the chin there.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Al Shami scores with a decent looking hook.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Portella enables Al Shami to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Portella manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Al Shami really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Portella. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Al Shami stands up from Portella's guard - Al Shami perhaps looking for a knockout.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Naser Al Shami dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


A lazy left from Al Shami finds it's target.

Al Shami shoots in and gets a takedown into Portella's guard.

Al Shami is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Portella has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Al Shami is looking to defend but Portella has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Al Shami! Portella pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Al Shami taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Cesar Portella!
