The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson throws a poor cross that misses
and Hanks counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Thompson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Thompson lands a nice shot that snaps Hanks's head back.
Hanks misses with a few strikes there.
Thompson throws a leg kick but Hanks moved away.
The fighters circling - Hanks throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Hanks lands a left and a right that send Thompson crashing to the mat, dazed. Hanks thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Thompson takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Hanks just misses with a punch to the body.
Hanks cracks Thompson with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Hanks has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Thompson to stand back up!
Thompson is trying desperately to land a takedown but Hanks is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Thompson.
Hanks bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Hanks throws a nice looking combination but Thompson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Thompson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hanks but Hanks pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Oooooh!!! Hanks has knocked Thompson down with a huge combo! Hanks steps away and waves a wobbly Thompson back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
Thompson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Thompson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hanks as he avoids it easily.
Hanks feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Thompson sprawling to the canvas! Thompson rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Hanks finish him?!
Hanks sends Thompson crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Hanks is motioning to the referee to let Thompson up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Hanks ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
