PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Munoz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan the tank (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). the tank has chosen ready to fight as his entrance music. The key to victory for Brandon Munoz has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brandon Munoz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dan the tank!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
the tank shoots for a takedown but Munoz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Munoz looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from the tank is defended easily by Munoz.

the tank forces Munoz back against the cage and clinches.
the tank wants a takedown but no success here.
Brandon Munoz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan the tank.

the tank breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
the tank fails to land the takedown.
the tank looks for a takedown but Munoz sprawls well.
Munoz catches the tank with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
the tank shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Munoz as he jumps to the side.
Munoz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but the tank avoids it really well and circles away.

the tank closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Munoz quickly recovers to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
the tank missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

the tank thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Munoz's head.

Munoz pushes the tank off looking to stand but the tank dives back in and keeps control.
the tank is trying to control. Munoz wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

the tank is nestled in close to Munoz, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
the tank frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
the tank sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Munoz tries to buck the tank off but he can't manage it.
the tank looking to ground and pound but Munoz is blocking nicely.
the tank in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
the tank throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
the tank lands a nice shot to the head.
the tank has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Munoz's face.
the tank throwing strikes here but Munoz is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
the tank sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
the tank scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Munoz?

That's three minutes gone in the round.
You get the feeling that Munoz really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Munoz avoids a strike by the tank and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in the tank's guard! Fantastic escape!

the tank has his foot on Munoz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Munoz works his way back into a safe position though.
the tank has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
the tank pulls Munoz in close to his closed guard and prevents Munoz from doing any damage or advancing position.

the tank looking for a guillotine here but Munoz defends easily.
Munoz has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

the tank working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Munoz doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but the tank is tightening it up a little... Munoz has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Munoz reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Munoz taps out! Nice BJJ there by the tank!
