PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Master Stacker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Todd Straub (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stacker comes to the cage accompanied by Hard In Da Paint by: Wocka Flocka Flame. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Master Stacker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Todd Straub!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Straub blocks a head kick by Stacker.
Stacker fails with a takedown attempt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Stacker enables Straub to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Stacker manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Straub looking to sit in guard and control but Stacker gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Stacker working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Straub manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Straub dominating with strikes here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Straub pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Stacker tries to hold on but Straub pushes him away.
Stacker is looking to get to half guard.
Straub misses with a head shot.
Stacker holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Straub tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Straub wants to control the pace but Stacker is squirming around nicely.

Stacker tries to hold on but Straub pushes him away.

Poor strikes thrown by Straub there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Stacker is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Straub punching from mount but Stacker doing a good job of avoiding damage.

Stacker is squirming around, avoiding Straub's attempts to control the action.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Stacker tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Straub manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
The fight stays on the outside here - Stacker looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Straub defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Stacker.
Straub throws an overhand right that lands on Stacker's shoulder, as Stacker tries to avoid the shot.

and Straub counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Stacker takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Straub leaves Stacker with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Stacker shoots for a takedown but Straub saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Straub shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Stacker looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Straub looking for a guillotine here but Stacker defends easily.
Stacker would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Stacker wants to control from the top but Straub keeps moving.

Straub can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Stacker is looking to escape.

Straub is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Straub takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Stacker is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Todd Straub showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Stacker misses with a takedown attempt - Straub sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Master Stacker is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Stacker is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Straub's half guard.

Stacker thows a huge punch but Straub dodges it nicely.
Straub is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Stacker seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Straub does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Stacker is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Straub is just riding it out for now. Stacker eventually gives up the hold.

Stacker wants to work for an arm triangle but Straub is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Stacker landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Straub has one foot on Stacker's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Stacker tries to bum rush Straub with a series of wild strikes but Straub uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Stacker scoring well with a low kick there.

Stacker gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Straub to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Straub wants to control from the top but Stacker keeps moving.

Straub is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Todd Straub was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Straub avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Master Stacker showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Straub has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
