The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and George Francis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Rodrigues.
Rodrigues gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Sonnen counters with a takedown into side control.
Sonnen trying to control the action but Rodrigues is working from the bottom.
Rodrigues manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Sonnen is nestled in close to Rodrigues, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Sonnen thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Rodrigues regains full guard. Nicely done.
Sonnen wants to control from the top but Rodrigues keeps moving.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sonnen throwing strikes from guard but Rodrigues blocks nicely.

Sonnen controls from within his opponent's guard.
Sonnen chips away with some ground and pound.
Sonnen postures up and lands a big shot to Rodrigues's brow.
Sonnen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rodrigues works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Sonnen is looking to work some ground and pound but Rodrigues has wrist control.
Sonnen preventing the sweep.
Sonnen controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Sonnen trying to control the position from guard on top but Rodrigues is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Sonnen lands a couple of digs.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sonnen is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Sonnen stands up over Rodrigues, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Rodrigues is rocked!
Sonnen with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Oh Rodrigues is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sonnen stays in close to Rodrigues's body and controls the position.
Sonnen loads up on a big left hand. Rodrigues felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Sonnen looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Rodrigues can't hide his disappointment, as Sonnen celebrates the victory.
