PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between JoeSon Do (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Vespa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Do fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Do shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Vespa as he avoids it easily.
Vespa gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Do counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Vespa!
Do controlling from mount.
Vespa tries to hold on but Do pushes him away.
Vespa is working to get back to half guard.

Do has control of Vespa's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Vespa regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Vespa throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Vespa postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Vespa is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Do is not content to let Vespa control the position.
Vespa tries to move into full mount but can't pass Do's legs.
Do wants to control but Vespa postures up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

That was a close round but I would say that JoeSon Do will probably get the nod.

Do is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Vespa can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Vespa might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Do kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Vespa tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Do jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Vespa is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Vespa and Do has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
