PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Antti Hammer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ren Rothschild (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hammer kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Bolt Thrower - IV Crusade. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rothschild tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Hammer paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hammer dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Rothschild. That did some damage!
Hammer stuffs the takedown.

Rothschild shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Rothschild with shots to the head and body - Hammer looks very uncomfortable down there.
Rothschild trying to control but Hammer is having none of it.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hammer is looking to improve his position but Rothschild isn't that keen on the idea.
Hammer knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rothschild on the ground.
Rothschild tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hammer tries to reverse the position but Rothschild maintains control.

Rothschild prevents Hammer from getting the reversal.
Rothschild lands a big shot there that rocks Hammer but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Hammer is desperately trying to improve his position but Rothschild has a good base and remains in mount.
Hammer tries to lock up and control but Rothschild gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Rothschild throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Hammer on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hammer tries to get out of the position.
Hammer is looking to improve his position but Rothschild isn't that keen on the idea.
Hammer might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Rothschild can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hammer is looking to escape.

Rothschild has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Rothschild moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Hammer has worked his arm free - good work by Hammer!
Check out the look on Rothschild's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Hammer pushes Rothschild away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Rothschild gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Rothschild wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hammer, who protects the arm well.
Rothschild is staying tight to Hammer's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Rothschild decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hammer to his feet.
Rothschild works over Hammer's head and body with a nice combination.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hammer tries to move into range but Rothschild moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Rothschild moves into the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Rothschild tries to land knees in the clinch but Hammer avoids the damage to the body.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ren Rothschild dominated that round.

Hammer fails to land with a series of punches.
Rothschild tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hammer swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rothschild avoids the head kick by Hammer.
Ren Rothschild seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rothschild misses with a few strikes there.
Rothschild throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Hammer's head.

Hammer is rocked!
Rothschild closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Hammer! Rothschild dives in looking to finish! Hammer is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
