PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ceaser Sarney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz comes to the cage accompanied by Been to Hell. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ceaser Sarney was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nick Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ceaser Sarney!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Ceaser Sarney seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Diaz misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sarney. Diaz does a little dance to reset his feet.

Diaz takes the fight into the clinch.
Sarney is stalling here.
Sarney lands a nice knee to the body.
Sarney throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Diaz blocks it with crossed arms.
Sarney lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Sarney makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Diaz breaks the clinch.

Diaz closes the distance and clinches.
Sarney content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Diaz fails to pull guard.
Diaz misses with a hook to the ribs.
Diaz avoiding damage as Sarney throws knees to the body.

Sarney misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Diaz.
Diaz tries to throw a body punch but Sarney avoids it by throwing Diaz back against the cage.
Diaz can't break the clinch.
Knees in the clinch landing for Sarney.
Sarney scores with a shoulder strike.
Diaz stalling in the clinch but Sarney improves position.
Diaz makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Diaz breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Diaz instigates a clinch.
Sarney unloads a knee to the mid-section. Diaz lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sarney looking to throw knees to the head but Diaz is blocking nicely.
Sarney has a couple of punches blocked by Diaz.
Sarney misses with a knee to the head.
Sarney misses with a body punch.

Sarney lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Sarney throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Diaz is trying to break the clinch but Sarney is controlling him.
Diaz has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Sarney with a knee to the head.
Diaz is trying to break free.
Sarney throws a knee to the head but misses.
Diaz trying to stall but Sarney improves his position.
Knees to the body from Sarney.
Diaz is breathing heavily.
The referee calls for Sarney to work.
Sarney softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage.
Sarney lands a knee to the body.
Diaz tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nick Diaz. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Diaz pulls guard successfully.

Diaz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sarney defends well.
Sarney wants to stand but Diaz is controlling his posture from full guard.
Sarney trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Diaz has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Diaz is looking for a triangle but Sarney pushes his legs off easily.
Diaz is pulling down on Sarney's head to control his posture.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Sarney really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diaz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Nick Diaz just wasn't active enough.
Diaz misses the shot to the body.
Diaz staying out of range there.
Sarney tries to clinch up but Diaz circles away and keeps his distance.
Sarney connects with a looping right hand.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Sarney needs to keep his hands up - Diaz had a free shot at his head there.
Sarney lands a nice shot to the body.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sarney as he avoids it easily.
Sarney throws an overhand right that lands on Diaz's shoulder, as Diaz tries to avoid the shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ceaser Sarney dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Diaz shoots in looking for a takedown but Sarney manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Diaz's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Diaz steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sarney.
Sarney tries to close the distance and clinch but Diaz swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Diaz tries to bum rush Sarney with a series of wild strikes but Sarney uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Diaz closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Diaz lands in his opponent's guard.
Diaz pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Sarney is keeping the position for now.

Sarney is looking for a triangle but Diaz pushes his legs off easily.

Sarney had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Diaz defends it easily.

Sarney looking for subs off his back but Diaz has passed one foot through into half guard.
Sarney is breathing heavily.
Diaz is controlling the pace.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Diaz is trying to control the action in half guard but Sarney is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Diaz is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Sarney!
Diaz wants to take Sarney's back here but Sarney is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Diaz has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Sarney's face.
Diaz lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Sarney hang on?
Sarney tries to improve his position but instead Diaz has taken his back!
Sarney is trying to get back to his feet but Diaz has full control of the position and if anything, Sarney has just worked his way into a worse spot.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Diaz has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Sarney is in real trouble here. Diaz gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Sarney is tapping out! Diaz wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Nick Diaz!
