Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rafal Piotrowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brook Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rafal Piotrowski has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rafal Piotrowski!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brook Penn!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Gwen Towbar and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Piotrowski tries to close the distance and clinch up but Penn swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Piotrowski clinches.
A left hand lands to the body for Piotrowski.

Piotrowski breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Piotrowski throws and low kick but Penn moves out of range easily.
Penn has a takedown stuffed.
Piotrowski tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Penn paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Piotrowski shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Penn's guard.
Penn is looking to stand up but Piotrowski isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Piotrowski trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Piotrowski wants to control from the top but Penn keeps moving.
Penn is trying to keep Piotrowski in close.
Penn looks gassed!

Penn wants to improve his position but instead Piotrowski has moved into half guard.
Penn won't allow Piotrowski to pass to mount.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Penn accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Penn is looking for a kimura but Piotrowski is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Penn to get the leverage.

Penn is taking a breather. Piotrowski says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Penn wants to take a breather but Piotrowski is having none of it.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Piotrowski makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Piotrowski.

Piotrowski really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Penn takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rafal Piotrowski will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Piotrowski doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Penn counters with a single leg into guard. Piotrowski didn't expect that.

Despite being in the dominant position, Brook Penn just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Piotrowski has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Penn is working away from the top position though.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Penn scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Penn closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Piotrowski to the mat! Piotrowski manages to get full guard.

Piotrowski is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Piotrowski is looking for a triangle but Penn pushes his legs off easily.
Piotrowski is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Piotrowski seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Piotrowski is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Penn wants to stand back up but Piotrowski manages to pass into side control.

Piotrowski is looking to take a break and control but Penn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Penn wants to control but Piotrowski postures up.
Penn is looking for a sweep.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brook Penn showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Piotrowski lands with a kick to the temple. Penn shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

and Penn counters with a shoot takedown. Piotrowski fights it but they end up in guard.
Penn wants to control from the top but Piotrowski keeps moving.
Penn trying to stand up but can't free himself from Piotrowski's guard.
Penn is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Piotrowski working a defensive guard but Penn passes into half guard.
Piotrowski is staying active underneath Penn, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Penn is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Penn is tying to control. Piotrowski wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Penn controlling the position.
Piotrowski manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Penn is trying to maintain the position but Piotrowski is very close to passing his half guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Piotrowski clinches up with Penn and pushes him back against the cage.
Piotrowski has had enough of the clinch but Penn keeps him there for the moment.
Penn goes for a takedown attempt but Piotrowski pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

and Penn decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Piotrowski's guard.

Penn is just content to waste time from the top position. Piotrowski takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Piotrowski has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Penn can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Penn passes Piotrowski's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Piotrowski wants to control but Penn is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Brook Penn comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Penn has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
