Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gosha Abramov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ingo Pavlik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gosha Abramov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ingo Pavlik!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Viktor Lagutenko and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pavlik swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Abramov counters with a single leg into guard. Pavlik didn't expect that.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Pavlik wants to get back to his feet but Abramov is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Abramov is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pavlik can do anything to dispel that myth.
Pavlik wants to stand up but Abramov is controlling him.

Abramov has gone for a leg lock! Pavlik slips out almost immediately though and dives into Abramov's guard.

Pavlik got a little sloppy there for a moment and Abramov has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pavlik has managed to get both his arms back between Abramov's legs - danger averted.

Abramov sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Pavlik's guard.

Abramov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pavlik as he jumps to the side.
Pavlik throws a low kick but Abramov moves out of range easily.

Pavlik fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Abramov, pushing him back against the cage.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Abramov has Pavlik pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Pavlik manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Abramov has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Abramov there as he acknowledges the shot.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ingo Pavlik showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
