PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cain Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson comes to the cage accompanied by common - heat. Mir comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Spoilin For A Fight kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cain Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Frank Mir!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yuuki Gou and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick lands from Jackson.
Mir sizes up Jackson with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Jackson swings for the body but Mir moves out of range.
Jackson lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Jackson tries to close the distance and clinch but Mir swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jackson gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Mir shoots in for a double leg but Jackson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Mir slips a jab and a cross from Jackson.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Jackson. Mir shrugs it off though.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mir tries for a takedown but Jackson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jackson will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Mir fails with the takedown.
Cain Jackson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Mir.
Jackson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Cain Jackson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

It looks like Frank Mir has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mir loads up on a big right hand but Jackson slips the punch.
Jackson fails to land with a series of punches.
Jackson misses with a hook.
Mir steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Jackson.
Jackson throws a sloppy head kick and Mir moves out of range easily.
No joy there for Jackson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Mir drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Mir wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.

Mir wants to pass the guard but Jackson is keeping the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Frank Mir was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Mir tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Jackson was well out of range. Poor timing from Mir.
Jackson stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Nice defenses there by Mir.

Mir bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Mir wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jackson keeps working.
Jackson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Jackson tries to get out of the position.

Mir is looking to take a break and control but Jackson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The strikes coming from Mir are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Mir tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mir creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackson is working to avoid the ground and pound but Mir connects with a decent elbow.
Mir lands a few punches from side control.
Mir tries to move to mount but Jackson blocks the move with his legs.

Mir throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Mir misses with the ground and pound.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jackson tries to escape but Mir is in control.
Mir staying calm.
Mir has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Mir is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Jackson's shoulder. That is not cool.
Mir wants to control but Jackson is keeping him busy.

Jackson pushes Mir away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Mir gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Mir is looking to take a break and control but Jackson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jackson is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Mir asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Mir postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Mir tries to move into full mount but can't pass Jackson's legs.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Jackson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Mir throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jackson was covering up waiting for the punch and Mir finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Jackson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Mir is taking a breather. Jackson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Mir uses his free foot to push down on Jackson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jackson.

Mir has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jackson's face.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Mir can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jackson is looking to escape.

Mir throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Mir tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

It looks like Cain Jackson has been cut.

Mir might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jackson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Mir swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Jackson is now in Mir's guard. A big mistake from Mir there, giving up the dominant position!

Mir is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Jackson rolls with it to try and escape but Mir cranks on the arm and Jackson is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
