Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Urijah Faber (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jordan Timmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Faber comes to the cage accompanied by California Love. Timmons has chosen My 64' as his entrance music. Jordan Timmons will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Urijah Faber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jordan Timmons!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Faber drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Faber stands up and beckons Timmons to his feet.

Faber is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Timmons's half guard.
Faber trying to control from half guard but Timmons is working away.
Faber throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Faber is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Urijah Faber has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Faber darts in and clinches Timmons up against the cage.

Faber pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Faber swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Timmons counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Faber not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Timmons wants to stand but Faber is controlling his posture from full guard.
Timmons must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Faber has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

and Timmons counters with a shoot takedown. Faber fights it but they end up in guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jordan Timmons was stalling too much, according to the referee.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Faber enables Timmons to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Faber manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Faber closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Timmons quickly recovers to half guard.
Timmons is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Urijah Faber wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Timmons slips a jab and a cross from Faber.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Urijah Faber will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Faber shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Timmons as he jumps to the side.
Urijah Faber is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Faber fails in his attempt to clinch.
Faber scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Timmons doesn't seem bothered though.

Faber closes the distance and pushes Timmons back into the cage.

Faber shoots in for a takedown but Timmons shows good takedown defense.

Faber scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Faber with the ground and pound but Timmons uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Faber slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Faber fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Urijah Faber. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Faber is trying hard to land a takedown here. Timmons sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Faber does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Faber closes the distance but Timmons moves to the side

and Timmons counters with a shoot takedown. Faber fights it but they end up in guard.
Faber wants to stand and escape but Timmons is having none of it.

Faber has his foot on Timmons's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Timmons works his way back into a safe position though.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Faber is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Urijah Faber wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Faber tries to score a power double leg takedown but Timmons sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Faber somewhat.

Faber tries for a kimura but Timmons is defending well.
Timmons stops Faber from passing to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Timmons shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Faber counters with a nice double leg into side control. Timmons won't be happy with that.
Faber is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Timmons will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The ground and pound from Faber seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Faber stands up and beckons Timmons to his feet.

Faber scores a takedown into full mount!
Timmons takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Faber throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Timmons really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Faber. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Faber connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Faber controlling the position easily from mount.
Faber punching from mount but Timmons doing a good job of avoiding damage.

Faber goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Timmons is on top in guard.

Faber pulls Timmons in to control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Urijah Faber.

Faber looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Timmons!

Faber stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.

Timmons gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Urijah Faber showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Faber has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
