PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pancho Pantera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Waleed Malik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Malik has chosen Can't Be Touched as his entrance music. Waleed Malik told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Waleed Malik!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Malik is looking to clinch.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Pantera.
Pantera feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Malik's calf.
Pantera scoring well with a low kick there.
Malik throws a head kick but Pantera moves out of range.
Malik slips a jab from Pantera.

Malik darts in and clinches Pantera up against the cage.
Pantera blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Malik is trying to break the clinch but Pantera has him pressed against the cage.

Malik pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Pantera keeps the fight on the outside.
Pantera blocks a head kick by Malik.
Malik moves in looking to clinch but Pantera pushes him off.

Pantera fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Malik sprawls well initially but Pantera persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Pantera works his way into side control.
Malik is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Malik avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Pantera.
Malik wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Pantera thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Malik is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Pantera has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Pantera is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Malik knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Malik is not content to let Pantera control the position.

Pantera working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Malik is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Pantera asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Pantera advances nicely into full mount.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Pantera goes for an armbar but Malik turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Malik.
Malik wants to stand but Pantera has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Pantera misses with a series of wild punches.

Malik tries to clinch up.
Malik tries to close the distance and clinch but Pantera swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Malik unloads a knee to the mid-section. Pantera lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Malik escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Malik lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Malik.
Malik throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Malik tries to clinch there but Pantera circles away.
Pantera blocks a head kick by Malik.
Pantera looks to land a combination but Malik avoids it well.
Malik moves in looking to clinch but Pantera pushes him off.
Waleed Malik is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Malik throws a sloppy head kick and Pantera moves out of range easily.
Pantera shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Malik as he avoids it easily.

Malik thuds his right hand into Pantera's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Malik lands a big head kick that sends Pantera tumbling to the mat! Malik takes a step backwards and waves Pantera back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Pantera is rocked!
Pantera is keeping his hands low and just asking to be knocked out. Malik Raises his leg and lands a stunning axe kick! Pantera is out cold, face down on the mat!
