The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Der Hook throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Thurst.
Thurst shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Van Der Hook but Van Der Hook pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Thurst lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Van Der Hook stuffs the takedown.
Thurst takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Van Der Hook throws a push kick but Thurst slaps the foot to one side.

Thurst shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Van Der Hook pinned against the ropes. Van Der Hook gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Van Der Hook is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Thurst.
Thurst takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Van Der Hook lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Thurst uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Van Der Hook.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Thurst.
Thurst throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Van Der Hook sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Van Der Hook lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
A big left from Thurst misses.
Thurst fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Van Der Hook avoids it really well and circles away.
Van Der Hook gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Van Der Hook wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Thurst on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Van Der Hook. Van Der Hook obviously looking to wear him down.
Van Der Hook tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Thurst was well out of range. Poor timing from Van Der Hook.
Thurst gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Van Der Hook tries to land a front kick but Thurst steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Thurst is trying desperately to land a takedown but Van Der Hook is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Thurst.

Thurst shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Van Der Hook's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Van Der Hook bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Thurst's guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Thurst has his foot on Van Der Hook's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Van Der Hook works his way back into a safe position though.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Van Der Hook passes Thurst's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Van Der Hook throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Van Der Hook is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Thurst takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Thurst on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Van Der Hook moves away from the strike by Thurst.

Van Der Hook throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Thurst stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Thurst might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Van Der Hook circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! Thurst drops to the canvas, hurt badly! Van Der Hook follows Thurst to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!
