The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Santos rushes Masters and presses him up against the cage.

Masters breaks the clinch.

Santos drives through and clinches with Masters against the cage.
Santos with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.

Santos lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Masters circles away quickly and effectively.

Masters throws a nice inside leg kick.
Santos tries to clinch there but Masters circles away.
Santos stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Masters.
Santos has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Santos there as he acknowledges the shot.
Masters moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Masters goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Masters throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Masters avoids a punch combination nicely.
Masters lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Masters lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

It looks like Daniel Santos has been cut.

No joy there for Santos, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Masters lands a big head kick that sends Santos tumbling to the mat! Masters takes a step backwards and waves Santos back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Santos throws a nice looking combination but Masters bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Masters sizes up Santos with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Santos takes the fight into the clinch.
Masters has had enough of the clinch but Santos keeps him there for the moment.

Masters throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Santos. Masters shrugs it off though.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Santos tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Masters manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

and Masters counters with a left to the body.
Masters pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's time! Masters's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Santos throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Masters counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Santos swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Masters. Santos shrugs it off though.
That kick from Masters tenderised Santos's leg. Santos is trying to keep his angry face on.
A head kick misses from Masters.
Masters fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Santos.

Masters ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Masters misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Santos throws a right hand that Masters ducks under and follows up with a left that Masters also avoids with ease.

Masters lands a big head kick that sends Santos tumbling to the mat! Masters takes a step backwards and waves Santos back to his feet - he wants the finish!

and Santos takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Santos is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Santos walks into a left hand.
Santos is still on wobbly legs! Can Masters finish him?
Masters throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Santos's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Masters dives in looking to finish as Santos flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Masters's strikes! Masters is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Santos's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Santos was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
