PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roger Lin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leopold Stotch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lin comes to the cage accompanied by Advance On v2. Stotch comes into a darkened arena with his song building. What what, in the butt. kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roger Lin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Leopold Stotch!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Daniel Cesar and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lin shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Stotch pinned against the cage. Stotch gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Lin shoots in for a double leg but Stotch sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Lin is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Stotch's half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Lin tries to pass the half guard into mount. Stotch knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Stotch is pressing down on Lin's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Lin thows a big elbow that misses.
Lin postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Lin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stotch on the ground.
Stotch not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lin throws and elbow that misses. Stotch uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Lin's guard. Nice move by Stotch!

Lin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Stotch can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Lin is adopting a defensive guard.
Lin keeping moving, preventing Stotch from controlling successfully.
Stotch trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Lin looking for a sweep. Not yet Lin, not yet.
Stotch trying to control but Lin is working from the bottom.

Stotch postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Stotch, into his guard.
Lin distracts Stotch with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Lin trying to control the position from guard on top but Stotch is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stotch trying to keep a closed guard but Lin is proving a slippery customer.

Stotch working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lin.
Lin is looking to work some ground and pound but Stotch has wrist control.
Stotch avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Lin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Lin pushes down on Stotch's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Lin seems to be looking for submissions.
Lin looks to land a strike but Stotch avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Lin might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Stotch trying to control the position.
Stotch utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Lin thows a big elbow that misses.
Stotch is trying to keep Lin in close.
Lin throws a strike but Stotch rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lin trying to keep a closed guard but Stotch is proving a slippery customer.
Stotch with a flurry of punches that miss.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Stotch trying to control but Lin is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Roger Lin dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Lin just misses with a punch to the body.

Lin throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Stotch tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Lin is in Stotch's guard.
Lin is in close to Stotch's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Lin throws a strike but Stotch rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Stotch slips nicely into half guard.
Lin has a hand on Stotch's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Stotch takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Stotch goes for an armbar but Lin turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Lin.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stotch bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lin's guard.
Stotch trying to control the position from guard on top but Lin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stotch looking to pass the guard.
Lin keeping moving, preventing Stotch from controlling successfully.

Stotch throws a big right hand that misses.
Stotch trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Lin manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Lin forces his way into half guard.
Stotch trying to hold on to Lin's head to control him but Lin postures up.

Lin is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Lin misses with a head shot. Stotch uses the momentum to regain guard.

Lin trying to control but Stotch is working from the bottom.
Stotch is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Stotch pulls Lin in close to prevent any damage.
Lin pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Stotch is keeping the position for now.
Stotch controls Lin momentarily but Lin frees himself.

Stotch wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Leopold Stotch has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Stotch tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Stotch.
Leopold Stotch seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lin steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Stotch. That one must have hurt.
Lin tries to clinch up.
Lin takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Stotch slaps away a takedown attempt from Lin, before circling back to the center of the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Leopold Stotch showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Lin wants to clinch.
Stotch lands a two punch combo.
Lin has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Stotch.
Stotch fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Lin manages to avoid it.
Lin checks a low kick from Stotch.
A leg kick checked by Lin.
Stotch feints a jab promting Lin to slip. Stotch then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Lin slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Stotch takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Stotch pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Stotch throws a head kick that half lands.

Lin closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Stotch's guard.
Stotch bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lin's guard.
Stotch preventing the sweep.
Stotchis looking to pass into half guard but Lin pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Lin is in guard.
Lin postures up in Stotch's guard and throws a big left but Stotch blocks it.
Stotch is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Roger Lin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Stotch working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Lin.
Lin in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Lin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Stotch looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Stotch is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Lin pushes Stotch up against the cage in a clinch.

Stotch makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Lin is working for takedown but Stotch is calmly controlling the position for now.

Lin wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Roger Lin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Stotch lands an elbow that stopped Lin in his tracks for a moment.


It looks like Roger Lin has been cut.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Stotch lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Lin backwards.
Lin goes for a takedown attempt but Stotch pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Stotch stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Stotch wants it to stay on the feet.
Stotch lands with a nice body punch.
Stotch jabs at Lin's body.
Stotch misses with a low kick.

Stotch fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lin, pushing him back against the cage.
Stotch scores with a hook to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lin is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Stotch gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Stotch working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Lin takes a knee to the side of the body.
Stotch lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Lin backwards.
Lin blocks an elbow strike from Stotch.
Stotch comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Stotch is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Lin is defending well for now.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Stotch can't find room to land a body shot as Lin controls the action.

Stotch breaks the clinch.
Lin takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

And that's the end of the fight!
Leopold Stotch comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Stotch has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
