PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marty Mc Fly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tadashi Masaru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marty Mc Fly!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tadashi Masaru!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Roosa Järviläinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Mc Fly with that takedown attempt.
Masaru slaps away a takedown attempt from Mc Fly, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A punch combination from Masaru misses.
Mc Fly defending well as Masaru loads up on a big left hand.
Mc Fly fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marty Mc Fly. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Masaru darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Mc Fly shoots for a takedown but Masaru saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Masaru.
Mc Fly throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Good exchange - Masaru coming out on top.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Mc Fly wants to stand and escape but Masaru is having none of it.
Masaru postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Masaru tries to free his leg and advance position but Mc Fly is retaining full guard.

Masaru decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mc Fly, up you get!
Mc Fly takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Mc Fly has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Masaru finds it's way round the side to connect with Mc Fly's head.
Mc Fly uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Masaru.
Mc Fly has a takedown stuffed.
Mc Fly misses with a takedown attempt - Masaru sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Tadashi Masaru seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mc Fly's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Masaru connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Mc Fly scrambles back to his feet.
Masaru stuns Mc Fly with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Masaru cracks Mc Fly with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Masaru walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Mc Fly checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Masaru catches Mc Fly with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Masaru shoots in for a takedown but Mc Fly shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Mc Fly changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Masaru tries to avoid it but Mc Fly manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Masaru to the ground. Masaru escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Masaru scores a takedown into full mount!
Mc Fly is trying desperately to improve position.
Mc Fly is breathing heavily.
Masaru controlling his opponent.
Mc Fly is squirming around, avoiding Masaru's attempts to control the action.
Mc Fly slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Masaru controlling the pace.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Tadashi Masaru.
Masaru misses with a lunging right hand

and Mc Fly counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Mc Fly wants to control but Masaru is keeping him busy.
Mc Fly trying to control from Masaru's half guard. Masaru has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Mc Fly controlling from the top position.
Mc Fly wants to pass the guard but Masaru is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mc Fly trying to control the position from guard on top but Masaru is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Mc Fly drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Masaru dives on top into guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mc Fly wants to sweep here but Masaru controlling him for the moment.
Mc Fly wants to improve his position but instead Masaru has moved into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tadashi Masaru dominated that round.

Mc Fly fails to land the takedown.
Mc Fly throws a hook to the side of Masaru's head but Masaru sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Mc Fly shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Masaru pinned against the cage. Masaru gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Masaru.
Masaru looks to land a combination but Mc Fly avoids it well.
Marty Mc Fly is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Mc Fly has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Mc Fly there as he acknowledges the shot.
Mc Fly throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Masaru's waist but Masaru gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mc Fly off to one side.

Mc Fly tries to score a power double leg takedown but Masaru sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mc Fly somewhat.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Masaru works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Masaru slaps away a takedown attempt from Mc Fly, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Masaru lands a nice looking body shot.
Masaru shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mc Fly as he jumps to the side.
Masaru scores with a crisp jab that stopped Mc Fly in his tracks.

Masaru drives through with a takedown into Mc Fly's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Mc Fly is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Masaru is controlling him.
Masaru seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Tadashi Masaru has got the better of the ground game so far.
Masaru wants to stand but Mc Fly is controlling his posture from full guard.

Masaru escapes and gets back to his feet.
Masaru throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Masaru leaves Mc Fly with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Masaru keeps the fight on the outside.
Masaru fails with a takedown attempt.
Masaru lands a jab to Mc Fly's midsection.
Masaru throws a jab when Mc Fly was well out of range.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Mc Fly seems to be looking for submissions.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Masaru tries to get to full guard but Mc Fly has control of the leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tadashi Masaru showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Mc Fly takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Mc Fly is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Mc Fly is looking to stall here but Masaru recovers full guard.

Mc Fly drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Masaru manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Mc Fly has Masaru in his guard.
Masaru wanted to stand there but Mc Fly had control of the position.
Masaru stays in close to Mc Fly's body and controls the position.
Masaru looking to sit in guard and control but Mc Fly gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mc Fly is on top in guard.

Tadashi Masaru is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Mc Fly works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Masaru is staying active underneath Mc Fly, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Mc Fly is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Masaru doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Mc Fly.

Masaru is staying active underneath Mc Fly, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Mc Fly is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
