PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Darren Hui (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hayden Hansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hansen has chosen Puppet Breakup as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Hirohito Nitta and Kenichi Hosakawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hansen showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Hui.

Hansen throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Hui tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hansen is in Hui's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Hansen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hui works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Hui looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hui looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Hansen throws a strike but Hui rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Hansen is looking to stand up but Hui isn't so interested in that idea.

Hansen has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Hui off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Hui lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Hansen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Hansen wants it to stay on the feet.
Hansen shoots for a takedown but Hui saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Hansen wants to pass the guard but Hui is keeping the position.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hansen in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Hansen lands a couple of digs.
Hui trying to keep a closed guard but Hansen is proving a slippery customer.

Hui looking for a guillotine here but Hansen defends easily.
Hui is breathing heavily.
Hansen throws a strike but Hui rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Hui trying to control the position from guard on top but Hansen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Darren Hui wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Hui tries a head kick but it misses.
Darren Hui seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hansen looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Hansen gets to his feet. Hui looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Hui is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Hansen is aware though and is defending well.
Hansen content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Hansen keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hui's head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hansen with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Hansen is in close to Hui's body, working some short punches and elbows.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hayden Hansen dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Horrible takedown by Hansen or perhaps it was just good defense by Hui which made him look bad.
Hui displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hansen.
Hui could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hansen leaves Hui with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Darren Hui is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nice takedown defense from Hui. No joy for Hansen on that attempt.
Darren Hui has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hayden Hansen.
Hansen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hui as he avoids it easily.

Hui keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Hansen is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hui's half guard.

Hansen maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Hui could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Hansen has cracked it and Hui is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Hansen!
