The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richer blocks a head kick by Sanchez.
Sanchez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Sanchez rushes Richer and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Sanchez prevents the takedown attempt.
Sanchez lands an elbow inside that Richer shrugs off.
Sanchez throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.

Sanchez is trying to stand up here but Richer is controlling him well.

Richer is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Richer thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sanchez's head.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Richer seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Sanchez for as long as he can get away with.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Richer lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Sanchez backs up against the cage.

Sanchez is breathing heavily.
Richer lands with a big right hook that stumbles Sanchez - he's out on his feet here! Richer follows up with another monster hook that separates Sanchez from consciousness! Sanchez falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Richer stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
