The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clarke takes a swing at Polaniecki's ribcage but misses.
The fighters circle momentarily. Clarke darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

It looks like Gniewomir Polaniecki has been cut.
Clarke leaves Polaniecki with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Gniewomir Polaniecki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Clarke is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Polaniecki scores with a couple of nice shots.
Clarke is trying to stand up here but Polaniecki is controlling him well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Polaniecki is nestled in close to Clarke, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Polaniecki uses his free foot to push down on Clarke's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Clarke.

You get the feeling that Clarke really doesn't like being in this position too much.

It looks like Polaniecki might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Polaniecki postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Clarke in real trouble here! The ref calls for Clarke to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
