The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maya keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Maya fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Avalon avoids it really well and circles away.
James Avalon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Avalon misses with a looping right.
Avalon thows a body shot but no joy.
Maya takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Avalon lands with a nice body punch.
Avalon lands a right hook to the body.
Maya gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Avalon.
Maya misses with a straight left.
Avalon connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Avalon works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Avalon fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Maya, pushing him back against the cage.

Maya fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Avalon can't break the clinch.
Avalon just leaning against Maya, taking a breather.

Avalon is trying to push Maya away but Maya has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Maya prevents Avalon from breaking the clinch.
Avalon prevents a takedown attempt there.
James Avalon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damian Maya.
Maya goes for a takedown attempt but Avalon pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Maya takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Avalon stuns Maya with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
No luck for Maya with that takedown attempt.
Maya looks gassed!
Avalon connects with a nice looking jab.
Avalon comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Maya takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Maya tries to score a power double leg takedown but Avalon sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Maya somewhat.

Avalon throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Maya sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Avalon throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Avalon lands an overhand right.
Maya slips under a jab from Avalon.
Maya wants to clinch up but Avalon keeps it at a distance.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A big right from Avalon misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Maya fails with the takedown.
Maya moves out of range as Avalon strikes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Avalon dominated that round.
That's time! Avalon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Avalon jabs Maya right on the nose. Maya blinks but takes it well.
Maya is trying desperately to land a takedown but Avalon is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Maya.
Maya wants to clinch up but Avalon keeps it at a distance.
Maya takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Maya is rocked!
Avalon fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Maya square on the jaw! Damn, Maya is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!

James Avalon decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
