Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mark Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Damajur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mark Smith has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Mark Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Damajur!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Sam Margolis and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Damajur darts in and clinches Smith up against the cage.

Damajur escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Damajur shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Smith as he jumps to the side.
Damajur keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Damajur doesn't manage to clinch there - Smith circles away.

Damajur shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Smith manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Smith has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Damajur landing some decent shots from guard.
Smith lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Damajur!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Damajur is desperately trying to improve his position but Smith has a good base and remains in mount.
Smith sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith misses with a head shot.
Damajur regains half guard.
Damajur controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Smith looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Smith is looking to take a break and control but Damajur is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Smith moves into range and clinches up with Damajur.

Damajur breaks the clinch.
Smith thows a left - swing and a miss!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Damajur throws a leg kick but Smith sees it coming and moves out of range.
Damajur tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
A cross from Damajur lands.
Damajur lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Damajur.


It looks like Mark Smith has been cut.
Damajur has a takedown stuffed.
Nice takedown defense from Damajur. No joy for Smith on that attempt.
Smith is breathing heavily.

Damajur rushes Smith and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Damajur has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Smith clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Damajur controlling the position well here. Smith rolled but Damajur kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
It looks like Damajur might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Damajur is trying to stick to Smith's back but Smith is turning into Damajur. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Damajur's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Smith.
Damajur is trying to control the position but Smith postures up.
Smith sitting in guard, not really doing much.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Damajur thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Damajur dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Mark Smith's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Damajur fails with an attempt to clinch.
Smith takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Damajur closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Smith did well to prevent Damajur getting side control.
Damajur really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Smith looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Smith is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Damajur's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Damajur's back!

Smith is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Damajur knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Damajur for a finish.
Smith struggling to keep hold of the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Smith keeps control of the position as Damajur tries to break free.

Damajur just trying to survive but Smith is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
A lull in the action here.
Damajur trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Damajur might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Smith kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Damajur rolls, trying to escape but Smith keeps control of the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.

Damajur is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.
Smith defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Damajur.
Damajur doesn't manage to clinch there - Smith circles away.
Smith gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Damajur counters with an inside leg kick.
Damajur throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Smith.

Damajur has Smith up against the cage in a clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Smith is fighting off a takedown attempt but Damajur is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Smith to the mat. Smith regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Damajur stops Smith from standing up.

Smith working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Damajur has passed into half guard!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Damajur is taking a breather. Smith says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Smith wants to get back to his feet.
Smith might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Damajur trying to control the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Damajur prevents Smith from improving his position.
Smith avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Damajur.

Damajur stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Smith to get to his feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Damajur darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Smith wants to control but Damajur is keeping busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jake Damajur showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Mark Smith's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Damajur lands with a kick to the temple. Smith shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"


Smith is rocked!

Damajur shoots in for a takedown. He's got it... He's hoisted his opponent over his head and is carrying him over to the other end of the mat. The crowd roars in approval and Damajur slams his opponent to the mat. OH, that is naaaaaasty! He's out! Damajur lands a punch to his unconscious victim for good measure before the ref has time to call the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:15 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Slam). Jake Damajur!
