PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Freddie James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Keller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Freddie James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jimmy Keller!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Keller moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Keller closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into James's guard.
Keller trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Keller slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
James keeping full guard, as Keller tries to pass.
Keller not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Jimmy Keller has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

James scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

James wants to stand but Keller is controlling his arm.
Keller is trying to get back to half guard.
Keller regains half guard.
Keller is doing well to control the position and prevent James from advancing to side control.

James is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Keller doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time James.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
It looks like James is going to stand back up.

Keller is trying to maintain the position but James is very close to passing his half guard.
James wants to take a breather but Keller is having none of it.

James wants to work for an arm triangle but Keller is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Keller is holding on to half guard well.
James could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Keller manages to get to full guard.

Keller working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. James doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. James manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
James wanted to stand there but Keller had control of the position.

Keller has his foot on James's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. James works his way back into a safe position though.

James is just content to waste time from the top position. Keller takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

James got a little sloppy there for a moment and Keller has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, James has managed to get both his arms back between Keller's legs - danger averted.

Keller had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. James defends it easily.

James drops back looking for a leg! Keller is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Keller manages to kick James off! James jumps back into Keller's guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Keller is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst James is controlling him.
James trying to control the position from guard on top but Keller is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Keller tries to score a power double leg takedown but James sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Keller somewhat.

Keller closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. James quickly recovers to half guard.
James is trying to get back to full guard.
Keller is thwarting James's attempts to control the position.
James wants to control the action here but instead Keller manages to pass to full mount!

Keller wants to control the pace but James is squirming around nicely.

James prevents Keller from taking his back.
Keller pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.


It looks like Freddie James has been cut.
James is trying to escape the mount.

James can't escape the position.
Keller breaks from James's wrist control and lands an elbow.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Keller has hold of James's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and James manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

James really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
James tries to hold on but Keller pushes him away.
Keller looking to control and managing it successfully.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Keller wants to control but instead James manages to regain half guard.
Keller thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed James's head.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jimmy Keller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Keller bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.


Freddie James's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
James is not content to let Keller control the position.
James wants to control but Keller postures up.
Keller wants to control but James is keeping him busy.
You can see the frustration on James's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

James prevents Keller from moving into mount.
James can't do much from the bottom here.

We're going to have a standup here because Freddie James wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
James scores with a one two! Keller had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Keller shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Keller wants to take James's back here but James is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Keller looking to ground and pound but James is blocking nicely.

Keller won't let James get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Jimmy Keller is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jimmy Keller wasn't active enough on the ground.
Keller avoids a punch combination nicely.
James throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Keller.
Freddie James has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Keller throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. James tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Keller is in James's guard.

James looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Keller has picked James up and slammed him! James can't keep hold of the triangle and Keller manages to pass to side control!
Keller happy to just control the position for now.
Keller tries to move into full mount but can't pass James's legs.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Keller is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down James's shoulder. That is not cool.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jimmy Keller comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Keller winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
