Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nick Skerlik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vaj Pounder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nick Skerlik!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Vaj Pounder!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, John Mangel and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pounder connects with a looping right hand.

Skerlik moves into the clinch.
Pounder prevents a body shot from Skerlik.

Pounder manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Skerlik wants to control from the top but Pounder keeps moving.

Skerlik is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Pounder is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Pounder has escaped and now he's on top!
Pounder wants to pass the guard but Skerlik is keeping the position.

Pounder wants to control from the top but Skerlik keeps moving.
Skerlik seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Skerlik is on top in guard.

Skerlik stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pounder swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Pounder looking for a guillotine here but Skerlik defends easily.
Skerlik might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Skerlik trying to control but Pounder is working from the bottom.
Skerlik is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Skerlik passes Pounder's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Pounder is refusing to be controlled, as Skerlik sits in half guard.

Skerlik is working for an americana but Pounder has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Skerlik was thinking about the submission.

Pounder has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Skerlik is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Pounder.

Skerlik is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Pounder is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Skerlik working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Skerlik is looking to take a break and control but Pounder is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Skerlik tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Skerlik has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Skerlik tries to move to mount but Pounder blocks the move with his legs.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Skerlik tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nick Skerlik dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Skerlik tries to keep at a distance but Pounder has taken the fight into the clinch.
Skerlik misses with a body punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Skerlik is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Pounder manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Skerlik has gone for a leg lock! Pounder slips out almost immediately though and dives into Skerlik's guard.

Pounder tries to free his leg and advance position but Skerlik is retaining full guard.

Pounder drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Skerlik dives on top into guard.

Pounder throws his legs up looking for a submission but Skerlik uses it to pass to side control.

Skerlik is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Pounder knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Skerlik has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Pounder is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Skerlik yanks on the arm and Pounder is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Skerlik.
