PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Ovrut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathaniel Forrester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Forrester comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Rooster by Alice and Chains kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Ovrut!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nathaniel Forrester!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Summer Carpenter and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ovrut moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Ovrut throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Ovrut clinches up against the cage.
Forrester tries to break the clinch but Ovrut is controlling the position.

Ovrut manages to pull guard.
Forrester tries to free his leg and advance position but Ovrut is retaining full guard.

Ovrut working for a triangle but Forrester defends it easily.
Ovrut trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Forrester has gone for a leg lock! Ovrut slips out almost immediately though and dives into Forrester's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Ovrut stands up from Forrester's guard - Ovrut perhaps looking for a knockout.
Forrester defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ovrut.
Forrester misses with a body punch
and Ovrut counters with a head kick. That will keep Forrester thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Forrester misses with a wild body shot.
Nathaniel Forrester seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ovrut blocks a head kick by Forrester.
Ovrut avoids the head kick by Forrester.
Forrester lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ovrut circles away quickly and effectively.
Ovrut misses with a wild combination.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Ovrut drops Forrester with a beautiful combination! Forrester stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Ovrut is looking for the KO!


Forrester is rocked!


It looks like Nathaniel Forrester has been cut.
Forrester lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Ovrut shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Forrester's guard.

Ovrut decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
A head kick misses from Forrester.
Ovrut tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Forrester manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Sloppy strikes from Ovrut. Those never looked like landing.
Ovrut will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Forrester throws a head kick that misses.
Good shot there by Ovrut.
Forrester cracks Ovrut with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Ovrut blocks a head kick by Forrester.
Forrester tests Ovrut's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Ovrut fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Forrester, pushing him back against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ovrut blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Forrester misses with a short punch on the inside.

Ovrut escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Forrester misses with a double jab.
Ovrut shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Forrester as he avoids it easily.
Danga de danga de dang - Ovrut scores with a four punch combination!
Forrester tries to bum rush Ovrut with a series of wild strikes but Ovrut uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Forrester throws a head kick but Ovrut moves out of range.

Ovrut closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ovrut is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Forrester is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Ovrut stands up and we're back to a striking position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Forrester fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ovrut fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Ovrut. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Forrester lands a jab-cross combination.
Forrester misses with a wild body shot.
Forrester throws a head kick but Ovrut moves out of range.
Forrester throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

Ovrut gets a takedown into half guard.
Forrester really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ovrut. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Ovrut prevents Forrester from standing back up.
Forrester looks gassed!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Ovrut maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Forrester could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Ovrut has cracked it and Forrester is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Ovrut!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Mark Ovrut!
