PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jedrick Zevrone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lucas Dy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jedrick Zevrone looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jedrick Zevrone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Lucas Dy!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Ivan Kurochkin and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zevrone misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Zevrone looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Dy closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Zevrone's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Dy is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Zevrone wants to sweep but no luck.
Zevrone is wriggling around but Dy manages to pass to half guard.
Nice strikes from Dy there.
Dy is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Dy gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Dy misses with a few strikes there.
Dy throws a nice looking combination but Zevrone bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Dy shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Dy showed some decent athleticism there.
Dy perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Dy is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Dy controlling his opponent.

Dy working away from the top, dropping strikes.
Zevrone holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Dy tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Dy punching from mount but Zevrone doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Zevrone might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Zevrone wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Dy.
Zevrone could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Dy looking to control and managing it successfully.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Zevrone wants to control but Dy is having none of it.
Dy tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Lucas Dy has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Dy darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Dy stands up and beckons Zevrone to join him on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lucas Dy dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Zevrone blocks a head kick by Dy.
Zevrone defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Dy.
Zevrone tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dy swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Dy pulls guard effortlessly.

Dy kicks Zevrone off and gets to his feet.

Dy shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Zevrone tries to get to full guard but Dy has control of the leg.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Zevrone is looking to control Dy's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Zevrone avoid being mounted?
Zevrone blocking the ground and pound attempt from Dy.
Dy is taking a breather. Zevrone says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Dy really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Zevrone. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Let's hope that Dy has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Lucas Dy wasn't active enough on the ground.

Dy fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Zevrone, pushing him back against the cage.
Dy stalls.

Dy pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Zevrone.
Zevrone fails with the takedown.

Zevrone gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Dy trying to control the position from guard on top but Zevrone is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Dy engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Dy's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Zevrone misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lucas Dy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Dy drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
You can see the frustration on Zevrone's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Dy controls the position.

Dy is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Dy breaks from Zevrone's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Lucas Dy has got the better of the ground game so far.
Dy struggling to keep hold of the position.
Dy missing with punches from the back.

Dy controls the action.

Dy is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Zevrone defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Dy controlling well, preventing Zevrone from escaping the position.

Dy is riding his opponent, not letting Zevrone buck him off.
Dy not allowing Zevrone to control his hands.
Zevrone is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Dy.
Zevrone looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

The referee is taking a good look at Zevrone as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Dy!

Dy is persistently looking for the submission but Zevrone is defending it well.
Zevrone trying to control the action but Dy just sinks the hooks in.

Lucas Dy is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Lucas Dy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
