PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andre Tolstoy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Barreto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tolstoy comes to the cage accompanied by Prong - Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Andre Tolstoy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Barreto!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Matheus Silva and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tolstoy shoots in and drives through. Barreto sprawls well.
Tolstoy shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Barreto pinned against the cage. Barreto gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Andre Tolstoy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Oooh a lovely combination from Barreto sends Tolstoy down but not out. Barreto dives into side control looking to finish.


Tolstoy is rocked!


It looks like Andre Tolstoy has been cut.

Barreto stands up.
Oh Tolstoy is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Tolstoy looks for a takedown but Barreto sprawls well.

Barreto parries the strikes from Tolstoy easily there. Tolstoy is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Barreto to escape.
Barreto pushes Tolstoy away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Tolstoy gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Barreto is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Tolstoy asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Barreto really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tolstoy. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Tolstoy shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Tolstoy showed some decent athleticism there.
Barreto tries to kick Tolstoy off but Tolstoy keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Tolstoy thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tolstoy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

That was a close round but I would say that Andre Tolstoy will probably get the nod.

Barreto drops Tolstoy with a straight right hand, right on the button! Barreto follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
