The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zaleski closes the distance and clinches up with Hendricks, looking for a takedown. Zaleski pushes Hendricks against the cage but Hendricks circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Hendricks tries to bum rush Zaleski with a series of wild strikes but Zaleski uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Zaleski, right into the meat.
Zaleski is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hendricks.
Nice defenses there by Hendricks.
Hendricks fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hendricks shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Zaleski but Zaleski pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Hendricks throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hendricks changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Zaleski tries to avoid it but Hendricks manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Zaleski to the ground. Zaleski escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johny Hendricks. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hendricks chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Zaleski can pounce on him.
Zaleski lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Hendricks leaves Zaleski with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Zaleski throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hendricks sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Hendricks fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Zaleski avoids it really well and circles away.

Hendricks ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Zaleski takes a swing at Hendricks's ribcage but misses.

Hendricks shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Hendricks wants to lay and pray for a moment but Zaleski keeps working.
Zaleski really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hendricks. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Zaleski is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Hendricks scores with a couple of nice shots.
Hendricks drops an elbow to the side of Zaleski's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hendricks has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Zaleski is squirming around, avoiding Hendricks's attempts to control the action.
