PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Ringo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryuta Godai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Ringo might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to A Country Boy Can Survive. Ryuta Godai has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Johnny Ringo's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Johnny Ringo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryuta Godai!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Sosuke Kotani and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ringo lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Godai circles away quickly and effectively.
Ringo stuffs the takedown.
Ringo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Godai manages to avoid it.
Godai tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Ringo swivels and escapes.
Ringo's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Ringo duly obliges.
Ringo scores with a crisp jab that stopped Godai in his tracks.

Godai wants to pass to mount but Ringo is defending the position.

Ringo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Godai is working away from the top position though.
Ringo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Godai throws a strike but Ringo rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Godai is looking to stand up but Ringo isn't so interested in that idea.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Godai shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ringo but Ringo pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Ringo bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Godai's head.

Godai looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ringo with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Ringo is bucking up trying to escape but Godai cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Ringo wants to hold on but Godai pushes him away.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Godai throws some wild stikes that Ringo manages to avoid easily.
Ringo tries to lock up and control but Godai gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Godai cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ryuta Godai showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Godai shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ringo as he jumps to the side.
Ringo lands a really nice looking cross but Godai seems unphased.

Godai shoots in and bounces Ringo off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Ringo trying to keep a closed guard but Godai is proving a slippery customer.
Godai throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ringo works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Ringo will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Godai's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Johnny Ringo has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
