Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mohammed Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Polly Cracker!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Daniel Cesar and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gracie tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Cracker manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Polly Cracker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice sprawl there from Cracker as Gracie shoots in.
Gracie fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Cracker sprawls well initially but Gracie persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Gracie trying to control from half guard but Cracker is working away.
Gracie wants to pass to mount but Cracker is defending the position.
Cracker trying to control but Gracie postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gracie is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Cracker really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cracker is looking to control Gracie's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Cracker avoid being mounted?
That's one minute gone in the round.
Gracie landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Gracie throwing shots but Cracker is blocking nicely.
Gracie passes to full mount!
Gracie trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Gracie unloads with some shots from mount but Cracker bucks and avoids them well.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gracie throws some wild stikes that Cracker manages to avoid easily.
Gracie sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Gracie takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Gracie is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Gracie extends the arm and Cracker is forced to tap!
