Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ethan Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jum Uytr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thomas tries to keep at a distance but Uytr has taken the fight into the clinch.

Uytr keeps control of Thomas as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Uytr keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Thomas's efforts to push away.

Thomas flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Uytr stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Thomas throws a right and a left that both miss.
Thomas tries to clinch but Uytr is having none of it.

Thomas is fighting off a takedown attempt but Uytr is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Thomas to the mat. Thomas regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Uytr got a little sloppy there for a moment and Thomas has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Uytr has managed to get both his arms back between Thomas's legs - danger averted.

Thomas throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Uytr looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Thomas is breathing heavily.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Jum Uytr was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Thomas catches Uytr with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Thomas's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Thomas duly obliges.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Uytr is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Thomas can't fight it off and eventually Uytr manages to take the fight to the floor. Thomas looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
