Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Matt Heizel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barney Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee has chosen On To The Next One as his entrance music. Matt Heizel has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Bruno Lombardi and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee lands a lovely overhand right.
Lee throws a jab when Heizel was well out of range.
Lee slips a jab from Heizel.
Lee swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A big right from Lee misses.
Heizel's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Lee connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Heizel scrambles back to his feet.
Lee throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lee ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Heizel moves away.
Lee tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Heizel was well out of range. Poor timing from Lee.
Lee uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Heizel.
Heizel lands a nice hook to Lee's body. Lee takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Lee takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Matt Heizel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Lee counters with a stiff right hand.
Lee throws a looping overhand right but Heizel ducks down to avoid it.
Lee thows a left - swing and a miss!

and Heizel counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Heizel ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lee moves away.

Heizel lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Heizel scores with the left hand. Lee knows he should have avoided that one.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lee connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Lee lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Lee.
It looks like Matt Heizel has been cut.
Heizel dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Lee. That did some damage!

Heizel throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

and Heizel counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Heizel tries to close the distance and clinch but Lee swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Heizel moves out of range as Lee strikes.
Heizel takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Heizel looks to land a left hand but Lee moved out of range nicely.
Heizel throws a hook to the side of Lee's head but Lee sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

A looping hook to the body misses from Lee. Heizel does a little dance to reset his feet.
Heizel throws a shot from downtown. Lee moves away and avoids it.
Lee throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Lee moves out of range of the strikes.
A big left from Heizel misses.
Both fighters circling a little - Heizel finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Heizel lands a leg kick that knocks Lee off balance momentarily.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Heizel, as that shot connected.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Lee throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Heizel counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Heizel drops his hands momentarily and Lee takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Lee avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A punch combination from Lee misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Barney Lee will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Matt Heizel's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Heizel takes a swing at Lee's ribcage but misses.
Barney Lee seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Lee lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Heizel backs up against the cage.
Heizel uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Lee.
Heizel throws a hook to the side of Lee's head but Lee sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Lee has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Heizel has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Heizel throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Lee swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Lee lands a jab-cross combination.

Lee rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Heizel counters with a one-two to the body.

Heizel throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Heizel takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Heizel lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Lee lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Barney Lee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
