PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Duane Bobbick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bobbick comes to the cage accompanied by Indestructable. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Duane Bobbick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brock Lesnar!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Columbo Gatti and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lesnar jabs at Bobbick's body.
Bobbick throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
The fighters circling - Lesnar throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Lesnar keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Bobbick.
Lesnar ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bobbick moves away.
Lesnar misses with an uppercut. Bobbick saw that one coming.
Nice uppercut lands for Bobbick. That snapped Lesnar's head back.
Bobbick on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bobbick swats away the attempt to clinch by Lesnar.

Lesnar moves into the clinch.
Lesnar drops down looking for an ankle pick but Bobbick pulls his leg out and moves away.
Lesnar slips a straight right by Bobbick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lesnar scores with a decent looking hook.
Bobbick looks to land a combination but Lesnar avoids it well.
Lesnar tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Bobbick manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Lesnar lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Bobbick throws a series of punches but Lesnar moves out of range.
Lesnar jabs Bobbick to the body, keeping him at a distance.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A jab from Lesnar misses.
Lesnar ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Bobbick is breathing heavily.
Bobbick looks to land a left hand but Lesnar moved out of range nicely.
Bobbick ducks under a wild hook from Lesnar.
Lesnar looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bobbick is fending him off so far but Lesnar persists. Nope, Bobbick circles away and we're back to standing.
Lesnar uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Bobbick.

Bobbick misses with a straight left.
Lesnar connects with a looping right hand.
Duane Bobbick is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Lesnar misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Duane Bobbick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brock Lesnar.
Lesnar lands a nice shot that snaps Bobbick's head back.
Lesnar lands a glancing blow to the side of Bobbick's head.
Bobbick moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Bobbick ducks under a wild hook from Lesnar.

Lesnar bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Bobbick is trying to get back to his feet.
Lesnar working the strikes but Bobbick uses the opportunity to regain half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lesnar controlling the pace.
Lesnar stops Bobbick from getting back to his feet.
Lesnar winds up and cracks Bobbick with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Lesnar not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Lesnar throwing shots but Bobbick is blocking nicely.
Bobbick won't allow Lesnar to pass to mount.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Lesnar misses with a head shot. Bobbick uses the momentum to regain guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lesnar stands up over Bobbick, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lesnar prevents Bobbick from getting back to his feet.
Lesnar controls from within his opponent's guard.
Lesnar advances to half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Lesnar seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bobbick does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brock Lesnar dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Bobbick swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Lesnar.
Lesnar fails with an attempt to clinch.
Lesnar gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Bobbick counters with a left to the body.
Bobbick walks into a jab.
Bobbick waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Lesnar.
Bobbick lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Brock Lesnar seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Lesnar looks to land a left hand but Bobbick moved out of range nicely.
Bobbick lands with a cross.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lesnar slips under a jab from Bobbick.
Lesnar tries to bum rush Bobbick with a series of wild strikes but Bobbick uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Bobbick goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


It looks like Brock Lesnar has been cut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bobbick misses with a few strikes there.

Lesnar forces Bobbick back against the cage and clinches.

Bobbick pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lesnar pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Lesnar moves out of range as Bobbick strikes.
Bobbick moves forwards but Lesnar connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Bobbick is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Lesnar.
A big left from Bobbick misses.
Bobbick attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
A jab from Lesnar misses.
Lesnar throws a shot from downtown. Bobbick moves away and avoids it.
Lesnar feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Bobbicks jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Lesnar scores with a hook.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lesnar ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Lesnar.
Bobbick wants to get back to his feet but Lesnar drags him back down.
Lesnar with the ground and pound but Bobbick regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Lesnar throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Bobbick is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Lesnar scores with a couple of nice shots.

Lesnar seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bobbick does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Lesnar is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Lesnar accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Brock Lesnar will probably get the nod - 10:9.

That's time! Bobbick's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Lesnar fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Bobbick looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Bobbick just misses with a punch to the body.
Bobbick throws a shot from downtown. Lesnar moves away and avoids it.
Bobbick steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Lesnar.
Lesnar wants to clinch.
Lesnar pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Lesnar slips a jab and a cross from Bobbick.
Bobbick takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
The fighters circle momentarily. Lesnar darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Bobbick connects with a crisp jab.

Lesnar has taken the fight to the clinch.
Bobbick wants to break the clinch but can't.
Lesnar trying to stall but Bobbick improves his position.

Lesnar breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Lesnar slips a straight right by Bobbick.

Lesnar wants a takedown.
Bobbick blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Bobbick is trying to push Lesnar away but Lesnar has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Lesnar tries to score a body lock takedown but Bobbick shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Lesnar is pushing Bobbick up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Lesnar has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Lesnar controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Lesnar throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bobbick works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Lesnar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bobbick is keeping the position for now.
Lesnar wants to control from the top but Bobbick keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Brock Lesnar.
Lesnar takes a swing at Bobbick's ribcage but misses.
Bobbick moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A jab from Bobbick finds it's way through Lesnar's defenses.
Lesnar tries to clinch up but Bobbick circles away and keeps his distance.
Bobbick ducks under a wild hook from Lesnar.
Lesnar darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bobbick gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Lesnar missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Brock Lesnar comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Lesnar has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
