PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dawid Goniwiecha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Super Gary (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gary has chosen Fear of the dark as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Aafke Stam and Daniel Blasius.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gary closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Gary working over Goniwiecha with some ground and pound. Goniwiecha looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Goniwiecha pushes Gary off but Gary dives into side control.
Gary controls the position.
Gary working away.
Goniwiecha being controlled for a moment.
Gary's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Gary is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Goniwiecha has escaped the position, nice work there.

Gary tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gary has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Goniwiecha tries to buck Gary off but Gary is having none of it.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Gary decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Gary shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Gary content to control rather than advance.
Gary works his foot free and advances to mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gary with the ground and pound from mount.
Goniwiecha is working to get back to half guard.
Gary lands with some strikes.
Gary takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Gary wants to finish this one by submission but Goniwiecha is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Gary.

Gary goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Goniwiecha is on top in guard.
Gary has his hands on Goniwiecha's head, controlling the position.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gary is on top in guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Goniwiecha wriggles free and stands up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Super Gary dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Gary clinches up with Goniwiecha and pushes him back against the cage.
Goniwiecha is trying to force a seperation but Gary has the dominant position.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Gary stalling against the cage.
Gary continues to stall. The referee tells him to work or he's going to break them up.
Goniwiecha is trying to break free.

Gary jumps guard and drags Goniwiecha to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Gary is controlling Goniwiecha's posture.
Gary has a closed guard, preventing Goniwiecha from standing up.

Gary is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Goniwiecha frees his head nicely. Oh but Gary has switched to an armbar! Goniwiecha is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
