Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Matrix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Habbibi Uleh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matrix comes to the cage accompanied by Power Station - We Fight For Love. John Matrix has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Matrix!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Habbibi Uleh!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Donatello Bradman and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Uleh or perhaps it was just good defense by Matrix which made him look bad.
Matrix takes a swing at Uleh's ribcage but misses.
Matrix stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Matrix wants it to stay on the feet.

Uleh has managed to clinch.

Matrix jumps guard and drags Uleh to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Matrix is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Uleh in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Uleh trying to control but Matrix is working from the bottom.
Matrix looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Matrix is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Uleh is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Matrix jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Matrix misses with a wild body shot.
Matrix misses with an uppercut
and Uleh counters with a straight right hand.
Uleh showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Matrix.
Matrix misses with an uppercut.
Matrix misses with a hook

and Uleh counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Matrix tries to roll over but Uleh keeps him under control.
Matrix avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Uleh.
Uleh thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Matrix's head.
Uleh trying to control the action but Matrix is working from the bottom.
Uleh lands strikes from half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Uleh works his way into side control.
Uleh grinds an elbow into Matrix's temple.
Matrix is looking to regain half guard here but Uleh keeps moving and retains side control.
Matrix wants to control but Uleh postures up.
Uleh creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Matrix parries the strikes from Uleh easily there. Uleh is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Matrix to escape.
Uleh throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Uleh scores with a couple of short elbows.
Uleh is working Matrix over with some ground and pound from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Matrix tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Uleh wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Uleh works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Uleh working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Uleh postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Uleh throws a strike aimed at the side of Matrix's head but Matrix avoids it well.

Matrix is rocked!
Matrix on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Matrix tries to get out of the position.
Uleh in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Uleh cracks Matrix with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Uleh immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Matrix is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Uleh!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Habbibi Uleh!
