Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Max!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Blas Ople!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ople throws a head kick but Max moves out of range.
A head kick lands from Ople that sends Max to the canvas. Max tries to scramble back to his feet but Ople brings him back down into side control.
It looks like Michael Max has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Max is looking for a sweep.
Max trying to remain calm as Ople controls from the top position.
Ople decides to stand back up. Ople steps back and let's Max get back to his feet.
Ople throws a sloppy head kick and Max moves out of range easily.
A head kick misses from Ople.
Max tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ople paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ople misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ople misses with a low kick as Max jumps back.
Ople throws a head kick but Max moves out of range.
Max throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ople stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
That's one minute gone in the round.
A leg kick checked by Max.
Ople throws a head kick but Max moves out of range.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Max!
Max scores with a three punch combo!
Ople tries a head kick but it misses.
Max clinches up against the cage.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Max takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Ople breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ople lands with a slapping head kick.
Max could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The fighters circle, before Ople throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Max's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Ople lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Blas Ople!
