PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dzevad Poturak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karin Fester (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Poturak's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, MY LIFE is to fight. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dzevad Poturak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Karin Fester!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Wagner Zegers and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A head kick lands from Fester that sends Poturak to the canvas. Poturak tries to scramble back to his feet but Fester brings him back down into side control.


It looks like Dzevad Poturak has been cut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
You can see the frustration on Poturak's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Fester avoids the strikes from the bottom by Poturak.
Poturak manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Fester is looking for a kimura here.

Fester tries for a takedown but Poturak circles away easily

and Poturak counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Fester!
Poturak takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Fester tries to hold on but Poturak postures up.

Poturak stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Poturak shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Fester pinned against the cage. Fester gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Fester jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Poturak walks away with a smile on his face. Fester gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Poturak throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Fester was covering up waiting for the punch and Poturak finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Fester looking for a guillotine here but Poturak defends easily.
Poturak knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fester on the ground.
Poturak seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Fester is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Poturak is controlling him.

Fester looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Poturak has picked Fester up and slammed him! Fester can't keep hold of the triangle and Poturak manages to pass to side control!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Fester tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Poturak presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Fester is trying to reverse the position but instead Poturak has taken his back - oops!
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Poturak slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fester covers up after that shot from Poturak.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Poturak slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
I really don't envy Fester right now.
Poturak will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Poturak keeps control of the position easily here as Fester tries to buck him off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fester gets tackled into the cage by Poturak. Poturak maintains the clinch.
Fester goes for a takedown in the clinch but Poturak prevents it.

Poturak decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Dzevad Poturak overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Dzevad Poturak just wasn't active enough.

Fester closes this distance looking for a takedown but Poturak circles away.
Fester throws a lazy right hand but Poturak sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Poturak lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Fester backs up against the cage.


It looks like Karin Fester has been cut.

Fester gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Poturak to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Poturak advances to half guard.

Poturak decides to stand and escape the position.
Fester on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Poturak dives in and scores a takedown into Fester's guard.

Poturak gets to his feet - Fester follows without any prompting.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Fester tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Poturak swivels and escapes.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Dzevad Poturak.
Poturak takes a jab right on the kisser.

Poturak closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Fester to the mat! Fester manages to get full guard.
Poturak won't allow Fester to sweep him here.
Poturak stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fester swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Poturak stands and steps away. Fester gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Fester is bucking up trying to escape but Poturak cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Fester is looking to improve his position but Poturak isn't that keen on the idea.

Poturak jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Fester manages to avoid the submission attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Poturak lands an elbow.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dzevad Poturak showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Poturak, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
