Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sam The Furious (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Esa Tikkanen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Esa Tikkanen is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Esa Tikkanen!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Arvi Lind and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tikkanen throws a series of strikes that have The Furious backpedaling.

Tikkanen drives through with a takedown into guard.

Tikkanen avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Tikkanen trying to control the position from guard on top but The Furious is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The Furious looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Tikkanen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with The Furious. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The Furious is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Tikkanen seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The Furious is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Tikkanen defends well.
The Furious keeping moving, preventing Tikkanen from controlling successfully.

The Furious working for a triangle but Tikkanen defends it easily.
Tikkanen wants to stand but The Furious has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Tikkanen passes The Furious's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Tikkanen is looking for a kimura here.
The Furious is trying to get back to full guard.
Tikkanen looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The Furious is in trouble now - Tikkanen has advanced to mount!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The Furious is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Tikkanen stands up from mount. Strange move.
Tikkanen lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
The Furious shoots in looking for a takedown. Tikkanen tries to sprawl out of it but The Furious keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Tikkanen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Tikkanen shoots in and bounces The Furious off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.
The Furious is breathing heavily.
Tikkanen is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

The Furious working for a triangle but Tikkanen defends it easily.
The Furious can't keep his opponent in guard - Tikkanen advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Tikkanen tries to pass to full mount but The Furious defends it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The Furious wants to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The Furious misses with a takedown attempt

and Tikkanen counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for The Furious!
Esa Tikkanen has got the better of the ground game so far.

Tikkanen with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Tikkanen has hold of The Furious's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and The Furious manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Tikkanen is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Tikkanen!
