Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ken Tentheros (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Cook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ken Tentheros!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chris Cook!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, John Mangel and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cook throws a head kick that misses
and Tentheros counters with a nice body shot.
Tentheros showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Cook.

Cook gets a double leg takedown into Tentheros's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Tentheros working for a triangle but Cook defends it easily.
Tentheros wants to sweep here but Cook controlling him for the moment.
Cook throws a strike but Tentheros rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Tentheros controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Tentheros seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Cook for as long as he can get away with.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Cook fails to land with a series of punches.
An inside leg kick lands from Tentheros.

Cook scores a takedown into full mount!
Tentheros regains half guard.

Cook is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Tentheros is pressing down on Cook's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Cook drops back looking for a leg! Tentheros is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tentheros manages to kick Cook off! Cook jumps back into Tentheros's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cook postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Cook being controlled here momentarily.
Cook postures up in Tentheros's guard and throws a big left but Tentheros blocks it.
Tentheros avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Cook sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Tentheros's guard.

Cook is trying to work for a kimura but Tentheros is defending well.
Tentheros wants to improve his position but Cook is controlling well.
Tentheros is looking to control Cook's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Tentheros avoid being mounted?
Cook has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Tentheros makes his way to full guard, as Cook worked for a kimura.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tentheros pulls Cook in close to his closed guard and prevents Cook from doing any damage or advancing position.

Cook is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Tentheros is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Tentheros has escaped and now he's on top!
Tentheros has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cook is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Cook can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Tentheros controls the pace.
Tentheros working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tentheros stays in close to Cook's body and controls the position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Ken Tentheros just wasn't active enough.
Cook misses with a two punch combination.

Tentheros shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cook napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Tentheros moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Tentheros works to advance to full mount. Cook defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ken Tentheros dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Tentheros connects with a solid leg kick.
Cook will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Cook rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Tentheros counters with a body kick.

Cook closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cook lands in his opponent's guard.

Tentheros has his foot on Cook's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cook works his way back into a safe position though.

Cook avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Tentheros is trying to control the position but Cook postures up.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Cook drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Tentheros manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Cook has Tentheros in his guard.

Tentheros slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Tentheros wants to control from the top but Cook keeps moving.
Ken Tentheros overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Cook wants to stand but Tentheros is controlling the position.
Tentheros's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Cook drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Cook tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cook has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Cook is breathing heavily.

Cook swings around for an armbar but Tentheros sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Cook's guard.

Tentheros is stalling in the full guard.

Cook looking for a guillotine here but Tentheros defends easily.
Cook trying to keep a closed guard but Tentheros is proving a slippery customer.
Tentheros is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Tentheros is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cook is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Cook wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Tentheros is now in half guard.

Tentheros has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Cook tries to lock up and control but Tentheros gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Cook is wriggling around trying to escape.
Tentheros wants to control the pace but Cook is squirming around nicely.
Cook is bucking up trying to escape but Tentheros cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Cook is trying desperately to improve position.
Cook wants to control but Tentheros is having none of it.

Tentheros has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Cook's face.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Tentheros keeps Cook at a distance using the push kick.
Cook seems to have recovered his senses.
Cook misses with a hook
and Tentheros counters with a thumping low kick.
Cook throws a right hand that Tentheros ducks under and follows up with a left that Tentheros also avoids with ease.
Tentheros lands with a thumping leg kick.

Tentheros changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cook looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Tentheros is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Cook can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Cook takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Tentheros takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Cook tries to lock up and control but Tentheros gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Cook is in a horrible position here. Tentheros smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
