PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cruz Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dude Duderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dude Duderson told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Trevor Gratis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gomez throws a head kick but Duderson moves out of range.
Duderson throws a sloppy head kick
and Gomez cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Gomez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Duderson as he jumps to the side.
Gomez could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gomez shoots in but Duderson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Duderson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gomez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cruz Gomez. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Duderson instigates a clinch.
Duderson is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Duderson has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Gomez regains guard immediately.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Duderson won't allow Gomez to get back to his feet.
Gomez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Duderson manages to get himself to full guard.

Duderson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gomez is aware though and is defending well.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Cruz Gomez.
Duderson tries to clinch but Gomez is having none of it.

Duderson rushes Gomez and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Duderson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gomez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Duderson but Duderson pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Duderson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gomez's guard.

Duderson is sitting in close to Gomez's body. Gomez has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Duderson is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Duderson is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Gomez.
