The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves fails with a takedown attempt.

Stevenson rushes Alves and presses him up against the cage.

Stevenson breaks from the clinch.

Stevenson throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Pablo Alves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Stevenson walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Alves checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Alves shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Stevenson pinned against the cage. Stevenson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Stevenson misses with a low kick.
Stevenson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Alves manages to avoid it.
Alves tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Stevenson throws a chopping leg kick but Alves manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Stevenson misses with a body kick.
Alves misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Peter Stevenson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pablo Alves.

Stevenson closes the distance and clinches.

Stevenson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Stevenson has Alves pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Stevenson pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Alves tumbling to the mat - Stevenson dives into Alves's guard.
Stevenson passes Alves's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
