The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Minonzio tries for a takedown but Mines circles away easily

and Mines counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Minonzio's guard now.
Mines wants to control from the top but Minonzio keeps moving.
Mines prevents Minonzio from getting back to his feet.

Minonzio pushes Mines off and gets back to his feet.

Minonzio clinches up against the cage.
Mines is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Minonzio pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Mines tries to score a body lock takedown but Minonzio shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Minonzio wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mines has him pressed against the cage.
Mines effectively controlling the action here.
Minonzio prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kris Mines. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mines is breathing heavily.

Minonzio jumps into guard, dragging Mines to the mat.

Minonzio pushes Mines off and gets back to his feet.

It looks like Kris Mines has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Mines circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mines gets caught by a brutal right hook which buckles his knees! Mines tries to backpedal with his spaghettilegs but Minonzio is headhunting and goes for the kill. A jab and a right hook connect and Mines buckles badly as his eyes roll back. The referee steps in and saves Mines!! Mines is complaining but he was clearly out on his feet. Minonzio throws his mouthpiece into the crowd. Mmmm spit-tastic.
