PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mr Anderson Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trent Hinkelton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hinkelton comes into a darkened arena with his song building. '2001 A Space Odyssey' Theme kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva fails with the takedown
and Hinkelton counters with an inside leg kick.
Silva takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Hinkelton sizes up Silva with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Silva gets caught flat footed, as Hinkelton shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Silva is working an open guard so Hinkelton takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Hinkelton takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Silva moves forwards but Hinkelton connects with a nice, crisp jab.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hinkelton misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Silva has his takedown stuffed
and Hinkelton counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Hinkelton lands a slapping body shot.
Silva avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Hinkelton changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Silva looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Hinkelton decides to stand back up.
Hinkelton scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Hinkelton throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Silva was covering up waiting for the punch and Hinkelton finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Hinkelton would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Silva is looking for a triangle but Hinkelton pushes his legs off easily.
Hinkelton pushes down on Silva's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Hinkelton not landing any meaningful shots this time.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Hinkelton has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Silva shoots in and drives through. Hinkelton sprawls well.
Trent Hinkelton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hinkelton gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Trent Hinkelton dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Hinkelton clinches.
Silva tries to pull guard but Hinkelton holds him up against the cage and eventually Silva drops back down to his feet.
Silva jumps guard but Hinkelton stands there with Silva around his waist. Silva gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Silva jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hinkelton walks away with a smile on his face. Silva gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mr Anderson Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Silva looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hinkelton is fending him off so far but Silva persists. Nope, Hinkelton circles away and we're back to standing.

and Hinkelton counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Trent Hinkelton seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Hinkelton throws a quick inside leg kick.
Hinkelton has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Hinkelton connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hinkelton is looking to clinch but Silva is avoiding it.

Mr Anderson Silva is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Hinkelton closes the distance and clinches.

Silva tries to pull guard but Hinkelton won't allow it.
Silva prevents a body shot from Hinkelton.
Hinkelton stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Hinkelton lands a left and a right that send Silva crashing to the mat, dazed. Hinkelton thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Silva is rocked!

It looks like Mr Anderson Silva has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hinkelton tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Silva paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Oh Silva is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Hinkelton lands a big head kick that sends Silva tumbling to the mat! Hinkelton takes a step backwards and waves Silva back to his feet - he wants the finish!
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Silva. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
BOOM! Hinkelton lands a beautiful left hook that drops Silva. Silva tries to recover but Hinkelton is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Silva lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
