The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Asas lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Asas tries to sprawl but Wheeliams drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Wheeliams must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Wheeliams drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Wheeliams jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Wheeliams throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Asas's waist but Asas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Wheeliams off to one side.
