PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Finn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Zalachenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zalachenko comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Torture Chamber kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dan Finn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Zalachenko!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Mauricio Rocha and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A nice leg kick lands there from Zalachenko.
Finn throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Finn takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Zalachenko tries to clinch but Finn moves out of range.
Zalachenko moves forwards but Finn connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Zalachenko closes the distance looking to clinch
letting Finn counter with a right hand.
Finn looks to score with a jab to the body but Zalachenko is just out of range.
Zalachenko moves out of range of the body kick from Finn.
Finn misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Zalachenko.
Zalachenko tries to clinch but Finn is having none of it.
Zalachenko looks to throw the jab but Finn is out of range.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Zalachenko tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but Finn paws at him with a jab and circles away.

It looks like Dan Finn has been cut.
Finn tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Finn takes a swing at Zalachenko's ribcage but misses.
Zalachenko swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Finn counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Zalachenko avoids the head kick by Finn.
Finn misses with a body shot.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Zalachenko lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Finn has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Finn and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

and Zalachenko cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

and Finn counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Finn avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Zalachenko connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Alexander Zalachenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Zalachenko feints and then cracks Finn's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Finn down.
Zalachenko wants to clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Zalachenko steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Finn.
Finn is looking to wear down Zalachenko with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Finn takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Zalachenko tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Zalachenko paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Zalachenko has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Zalachenko tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Finn manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Zalachenko lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Finn at a distance.
Finn fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Zalachenko manages to avoid it.

and Finn counters with a one-two to the body.
Finn circles away from the clinch attempt.
Finn takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Finn takes a swing at Zalachenko's ribcage but misses.
Zalachenko feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Finn's calf.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Finn misses with a wild body shot.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Finn crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Zalachenko - the referee stops the clock and Finn gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Zalachenko. Finn manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Zalachenko throws a nice inside leg kick.
Finn is breathing heavily.
A slapping body kick lands there for Zalachenko.

Zalachenko takes the fight into the clinch.
A battle for position here, against the ropes.
Finn on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Zalachenko is pushing Finn up against the ropes, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Zalachenko landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Zalachenko lands a nice elbow.

Zalachenko scores with a knee to the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Zalachenko misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Finn.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Zalachenko lands a damaging elbow.

Zalachenko is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Finn is keeping busy.
Finn misses with a punch to the body.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Zalachenko obliges.

Dan Finn's cut is getting worse.
Zalachenko lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Zalachenko tries a body shot but Finn blocks it.
Finn managing to block the knees to the body from Zalachenko.
Zalachenko is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Zalachenko tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Finn manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Finn takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

and Zalachenko counters with a nice low kick that buckles Finn's knee momentarily.
Finn ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Zalachenko moves away.
Finn throws a hook to the side of Zalachenko's head but Zalachenko sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Zalachenko closes the distance and pushes Finn back into the ropes.

Finn tries to stall but Zalachenko uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Zalachenko lands an elbow that stopped Finn in his tracks for a moment.
Zalachenko scores a nice knee to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Zalachenko scores with a nice hook to the head.


Dan Finn's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Zalachenko is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Finn is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Zalachenko misses with a knee strike.
Zalachenko lands a right hand that snaps the head of Finn backwards.


Jeez, Dan Finn's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

Finn tries a body shot but Zalachenko blocks it.
Zalachenko creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Finn's defenses.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Dan Finn's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Alexander Zalachenko!
Alexander Zalachenko decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
