Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luther Heggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Steve Gorvinskichev!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Felipe Paraventi and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gorvinskichev swats away the attempt to clinch by Heggs.
Heggs tries to clinch but Gorvinskichev is having none of it.
Heggs rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Gorvinskichev counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Gorvinskichev scores with a shot to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Gorvinskichev gets tackled into the cage by Heggs. Heggs maintains the clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Heggs fails to land.
Heggs lands a right hand that snaps the head of Gorvinskichev backwards.


It looks like Steve Gorvinskichev has been cut.
Heggs pushes Gorvinskichev back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Gorvinskichev is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Heggs's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Gorvinskichev takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Heggs counters with a nice uppercut.
Heggs tries to clinch there but Gorvinskichev circles away.

Heggs moves out of range as Gorvinskichev strikes.

Gorvinskichev circles away from the clinch attempt.

Heggs gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Nice body punch from Heggs - that landed with a thud.

Heggs breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Heggs scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Gorvinskichev looks gassed!
Heggs is looking to clinch but Gorvinskichev is avoiding it.
Heggs tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Gorvinskichev paws at him with a jab and circles away.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Heggs prevents the takedown attempt.
Heggs has a couple of punches blocked by Gorvinskichev.

Gorvinskichev has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Gorvinskichev has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Heggs is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Heggs lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Heggs pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Heggs forces Gorvinskichev back against the cage and clinches.
Heggs lands a hook that snaps the head of Gorvinskichev backwards.
Heggs doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Gorvinskichev can't break the clinch.
Gorvinskichev takes a shot to the head.

Heggs escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Heggs doesn't manage to clinch there - Gorvinskichev circles away.
Gorvinskichev misses with a two punch combination.

Heggs closes the distance and pushes Gorvinskichev back into the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Luther Heggs will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Heggs wants to clinch up but Gorvinskichev keeps it at a distance.
Heggs misses with a wild body shot.
Heggs staying out of range there.
Gorvinskichev throws an overhand right that lands on Heggs's shoulder, as Heggs tries to avoid the shot.
Heggs tries to clinch but Gorvinskichev is having none of it.
Heggs moves in looking to clinch but Gorvinskichev pushes him off.
Gorvinskichev fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Heggs avoids a punch combination nicely.
Gorvinskichev fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Heggs on the side of the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gorvinskichev stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Heggs avoids a punch combination nicely.
Gorvinskichev avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Gorvinskichev ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
A punch combination from Gorvinskichev misses.
Heggs ducks under a wild hook from Gorvinskichev.
Heggs tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Gorvinskichev manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gorvinskichev throws a right hand that Heggs ducks under and follows up with a left that Heggs also avoids with ease.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
