Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Babcock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Rudd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rudd has chosen Bob Marley - Get Up Stand Up as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Bruce Babcock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chris Rudd!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Bruno Hogan and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Rudd.

Babcock gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Rudd is pressed up against the cage. Babcock has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rudd down to the mat. Rudd avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Rudd throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Babcock swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rudd moves into range and connects with a jab.
Babcock throws a right and a left that Rudd avoids nicely.
Babcock misses with a wild combination.
Rudd will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
A combination from Rudd does no damage.
Rudd fails with an attempt to clinch.
Some wild striking there from Rudd.
Babcock throws the left hand but Rudd avoids the punch easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Babcock feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Rudds jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Babcock avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Rudd shoots for a takedown but Babcock saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rudd misses with a few strikes there.
Babcock ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Babcock thows a body shot but no joy.
Rudd throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Rudd misses with an uppercut.

Rudd looking to score a takedown here. Babcock is defending well but Rudd drives through and ends up in Babcock's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Rudd trying to control the position from guard on top but Babcock is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Babcock had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rudd defends it easily.
Rudd controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Babcock keeping full guard, as Rudd tries to pass.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rudd is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Babcock had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rudd defends it easily.
Babcock looking to control.
Rudd throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Babcock keeping moving, preventing Rudd from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Babcock tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Rudd controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Babcock manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rudd manages to get himself to full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rudd throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Babcock drops back, looking for a kneebar! Rudd looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Rudd looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Rudd!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
An elbow from Rudd crashes against the mat.

Rudd is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Babcock is trying to escape and Rudd transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Babcock is forced to tap! Nice work there by Rudd! Very nice indeed!
